Can you tell Veronica has a big brother?!

Some of the things she said...

*I have a commander who lets me go by myself.
*I am going to go tell my commander.
*I am even a girl and my other friends are boys.
*I have a lot of bullets in here.
*If I can see good guys with my spy gun, I will shoot them because I have 45 bullets in this gun.
Should we be worried?! Couldn't she at least have been the good guy?! :)
Forgot to mention...Max was at school during all this.

Japan

Our hearts are breaking for that country right now!!!! We vacationed there one year. Let me tell you, they were such welcoming people. They were so kind! I was quite visibly pregnant with Veronica and the older two were not quite 6 and 3 yet if I am thinking correctly. Everywhere we went we received smiles and slight bows. I kept joking that I was going to come home and accidentally keep doing the bows! One woman ran out of her store/restaurant, stopped us and talked to us about our family even though we spoke different languages. She motioned for us to stay right where we were and she ran back inside the building. She came out with treats for the kiddos. At another time, another mom had her daughter give our children some gel candies. (Luckily, we had read that it is a good idea to take candies from the USA to give to the children there. So, we were able to give her some too.) Whenever we were on public transportation, they did not hesitate to hop up and give me a seat. We were floored by the hospitality that we received while in Japan. So, knowing that they are suffering in such a horrible way right now, weighs on our minds and hearts. We cannot even begin to imagine what they are going through. All we can do is pray...

Black and White Day

Sydney's first grade penguin project came to an end today. She actually turned in her report and poster board last week and presented it yesterday to her class. She had to report on the Magellanic Penguin. To end the unit, the first graders put on a program for the families. Everyone is to wear black and white. Three of our four are in stripes; so, our family looks more like zebras than penguins. Ha, ha! The school even allows the older sibs to come watch the program. I think that is wonderful as that meant Max could join us. The program was absolutely adorable. (I remember Max doing this three years ago.) Sydney has come a LONG way in just a year. She froze at her kindergarten Christmas program; but, she did such an awesome job today. It was fun watching her and my other Daisy Scouts up there. :)

Enjoy the pictures!

" When is it going to start? You know we are not going to last too long!!!!"
"Waddle, waddle"

"Our boys"

"I told you I was not going to make it!!!!" She did not fall asleep, just resting.

The refreshments consisted of Oreos and milk (white and chocolate) How cute!!!!

"Where is the camera? Which way should we look?"

looking outside- the good and the bad

THE GOOD: After the torrential downpour a couple of nights ago, we have a full pond. We are enjoying that as we know it will not last. It looks so pretty out there! It is just what we have always dreamed of having!

THE BAD: Our neighbors have decided to put up a barn that can be seen from space. It is right by the property line. Grow trees! Grow! (If you notice, the one pine took a beating with our winter storms. Guess it will need replaced asap.)

When one door closes...

Those of you who know me know that I like BIG signs from God. (Have I ever posted about the Jumbotron message from God?! Let's just say that is how we knew we were to adopt.) So, anyways, I had an idea in my noggin. I thought it was a really good one. I had discussed it with God many times; but, apparently I talked way too much and listened way too little. He closed the door on my idea in a BIG way yesterday. I would almost say that door was slammed shut. To say I was disappointed would be an understatement.

I am not going to give up on my idea though. (Ron says I am stubborn.) I am just thinking maybe the time is not right. I have to trust in God's timing. After all, He knows what the future holds. I do not. He knows He has to remind me quite frequently who is in control. It is most definitely not me; but, I have trouble remembering that at times. I am human.

My quotes for the day are...
“When one door closes, another opens; but we often look so long and so regretfully upon the closed door that we do not see the one which has opened for us.”
Alexander Graham Bell

and as always...
"Commit your way to the Lord;
trust that God will act."
Psalm 37:5

I am going to try to focus on the here and now and just peek through the peephole of that closed door every now and then. Who knows what just might happen? God does...
