Summer break- thus far

So, the kids were finished with school on Monday. (I am still trying to figure out why they had to even go just one day this week.) On Tuesday, Max and Sydney had their well-child visits at the doctor's office. Am I a great mom or what? What child would not want to visit the doctor's office on their first day of summer break? Isn't that how every child wants to spend their first day of freedom? Hee, hee. It just ended up that way since we are not sure when we will be traveling and we wanted to make sure they got in for their check-ups. The exciting news is that they have dentist appointments next week. :) Anyways, the kiddos had great check-ups and we are very pleased with their growth over the year. Sydney grew 2 1/4 inches and is in the 90%ile. Max has grown 3 inches and is in the 80%ile. Yippee for healthy kiddos.

Wednesday was more fun as Sydney had gymnastics. Unfortunately, it turned out to be her last for the session. We thought she had one more class...guess not. We are going to take the summer off and just say a few prayers that she can jump (no pun intended) right back into it in the fall. That evening we had the pleasure of getting together with Ron's side of the family. Aunt Jan (Ron's aunt) is visiting from Arizona and it is always wonderful to see her. She is a vegetarian as well; so, it is always nice to have "company" in that area. I am surrounded by carnivores any other time. :) Ron and I realized that it has been 10 years since we took our trip with Aunt Jan and Gene (Ron's dad) to Peru! It is amazing that it has been that long already. That was such a memorable trip. There are so many things from that trip that make me smile and laugh when I think about them. Great times!

Thursday was a blast as the kids and I decided to take a trip to the zoo. We had so much fun. It is always fun to see their excitement at the different critters. We also tried out our new stroller...double side by side umbrella with reclining individual seats and a great canopy over top of each one. We are trying to prepare Veronica for China and the fact that she is not going to be able to attach herself to my hip. We have been talking about how she needs to either walk or ride in the stroller and that Mommy can hold her in the hotel or when we are stopped and taking a break. She did very well with that yesterday. It was a good day to test it too as she was extremely tired from partying the night before. (BTW...she did not sleep in!) After our zoo adventure, we went shopping for gifts to take to China for the nannies, etc. and went shoe shopping for the kiddos. We figured it was better to get them sooner rather than later as they will need to start breaking them in before the big trip. It was a packed day; but, we had so much fun because we did not have anywhere that we had to be. We took things at a slower pace. It was great. In Veronica's words..."I like it when Nee-nee and Bubba don't have to go to school."

I will try to post pictures from the zoo at a later time.
